This book was exactly what I expected it to be and was therefore fabulous! It’s a really easy and predictable read. I am excited to read the rest of the series.

Very much hunger games vibes of the type of world. There are people with silver blood who are known to have abilities and they are the monarchy. Revolution is coming and the main character goes through a lot to try to help. But she doesn’t always know if she is trusting the right people.

This book is generally fine. It’s engaging enough to be a light read, but I don’t find myself itching to pick up the next one.

Mare is interesting as a character, and I hope that the next books delves deeper into what her powers truly are and their origins. Cal seems somewhat flat as a character to me. All I got was “loyal military son” from him. Maven was more interesting and
the twist at the end was well done
and adds intrigue to his character. The supporting cast was mostly forgettable. I found myself having to actively think about who someone was when a characters name was mentioned.

I will keep reading at least the next book in this series to see how it goes. The writing style felt a little slow, but it may have just been due to the need for exposition and world building. Hopefully it picks up more.
