I love when authors write a book from the POV of another main character. This did not disappoint.

9/18 I am rereading this along with bloodfire so fun going back and forth

Companion novella to Bloodfire following Corrigan's POV.

Interesting to see some more depth to the story, though it might have been better if they had been combined into one with alternating POV chapters.

First book in [a:Helen Harper|6875729|Helen Harper|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1366547293p2/6875729.jpg]'s Corrigan series, which is a re-telling of her Blood Destiny series From the perspective of the Brethren Lord Alpha Corrigan, the love interest of Mack (Mackenzie Smith) - the protagonist of the Blood Destiny series. Each of the Corrigan books covers the same time period and sequence of events as it's opposite Blood Destiny novel, giving details of Corrigan's views and additional activities. Corrigan Fire covers the events in [b:Bloodfire|17191839|Bloodfire (Blood Destiny, #1)|Helen Harper|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1361696006s/17191839.jpg|23644755].

I adored the original Blood Destiny series and the interaction between Mack and Corrigan, so the opportunity to read from Corrigan's perspective was exciting. The book was not as good as Bloodfire, but, that's not surprising given Mack gets the lion's share of the story, making it difficult to give Corrigan a full protagonist's story. Nevertheless I really enjoyed the story and it added extra enjoyment to my recollection of Bloodfire and I think I may well read Bloodfire again as a reminder of the wider events.

It was great to understand Corrigan's fears and self doubt as the Alpha Lord and his frustrations with the backward ways of the Brethren and shifters in general. Learning how he came to power and how he dealt with political machinations in London added extra depth to his character. Best of all though was reading his growing fascination and attraction to Mack. Hopefully the rest of the series will develop this as well as the original series did from Maci's perspective.

If you are planning to read the Blood Destiny series then you should look to either wait and read the Corrigan series after, or read each with their companion Blood Destiny story. This will ensure you don't fall prey to spoilers.

ARC
Corrigan Fire is basically the first book in the Blood Destiny series in Corrigan's point of view, but it has a few more twists in it that we didn't see in the Blood Destiny series. We got to see how Corrigan became the Lord Alpha. And we also got to see how he changed things, and what he thought of the very mysterious Mac.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved getting to see what Corrigan thought of Mac, and how he was instantly captivated by her. It was truly awesome. I hope we get to see a lot more of Mac and Corrigan, especially from Corrigan's point of view! This one was really good, and had a little extra to it as well.

Corrigan Fire is a good book, not perfect, but certainly not bad. Too much swearing for my taste. The book starts strong and ends that way. Unfortunately, it is an entire book that appears to be setting the stage. There are no answers, just more questions that the author seems in no hurry to answer. There is also a horribly one-sided romance. Corrigan makes his feelings and desires known to all and sundry but Mack/Red/the object of his affection appears completely disinterested. In fact, if this is supposed to be his love interest I would have thought that the author would want to make Mack less of a complete jerk. I like Corrigan. I don't care what happens to Mack, I don't like her, and it is difficult to really like a book when you don't like one of the main characters. The author used this entire book to set up the world and introduce the characters and to show conflict. But there is no climax. No end in sight. No light at the end of this tunnel. Yet, oddly, I am not that fussed about reading the next book. That seems like a bad thing. Still I can't find anything I really hate about this book. Overall, feeling ambivalent.
