What a story this man has. Jack Charles tells us his story and alongside his escapades he has much to say about why certain actions/words or situations are hurtful and should not be used. This man is a great communicator. I chose the audio-book and I thoroughly recommend this format as it is read by the author.

Such an impactful book.
Listening to Uncle Jack tell his story has opened my eyes wider to the systematic racism experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Australia today. It's one thing to read statistics explaining these facts, but another thing entirely to listen to the lived experiences of those who have suffered abuse at the hands of the system. I am deeply ashamed of what Australia's Aboriginal people have suffered through and can only hope that by sharing stories like this to my friends and colleagues, the rest of the Australian community can become more empathetic to the suffering and start to make a mend for the actions of our recent ancestors.
Thank you Uncle Jack.

A life story told with humility and humour, clearly Jack Charles is a character who is willing to tell it all for the sake of the rest of us having any hope of understanding the experience of our Aboriginal brethren. Highly recommended.
