I'm not usually a fan of poetry, the shape of the sentences distract me from the writing. (A fault of mine and my sensory sensitivity and consentrstion limits.) But I was able to continue through this sorrowful story and I enjoyed it. So many layers to this story!

This book was able to reach into my chest and touch my shriveled-up black heart. This was a beautiful exploration of mental illness and trauma. The book is very short, but I absolutely devoured it.

Beautiful, poetic narration. Great topics. Read kind of like a snapshot story.
My one critique: I listened to the audiobook and the roundabout nature of the storytelling was very hard to follow at times. Not sure if it would have been better in traditional format.
