This series is such a steady 3 stars. Enjoyable, historical, simple.

The story of the seventh sister was fantastic and with Irish heritage I found the historical side captivating and it led me to ask questions of my family’s history and political positions. But I struggled with the “hunt” the other six sisters took up. Yes Pa Salt had spoken of a missing sister but the urgency to find her and her join them on his anniversary just felt weird. As did the insistence that she was their “family”. I don’t want to give any spoilers away so I won’t discuss it further but be prepared for parts of the story to sit uncomfortably with you.

As with the others the underlying mystery of Pa Salt continues and now we await his book due to be published I believe later this year.

Not quite as good as the others it was a four star for me.

Just writing this review to find out whether anyone else out there also found Ambrose‘s and James‘s story very moving and interesting?

Lucinda definitely set up a whirlwind of emotions with this book. Some questions answered, but now at the end so many more that need answering in the next book. The ending was totally not what I expected and I'm excited to see how all of the 'sisters' will come together.

The parts in Ireland were my favourite throughout this book. It was interesting to learn so much about what happened in that time and the divide between North and South.

I didn't quite take to Merry at first, but then once realising why she behaved the way she did I really liked her by the end. It was nice how all the other sisters were brought in too and getting little snippets of what they were all upto.
