Mystery, history and relationships. Some surprises but mostly uncomplicated storyline.

I loved this book very cozy and warm and the words are very poetic and descriptive. For a translation this is perfect or as perfect as it can be it was definitely a joy to read

A little too predictable. Not bad exactly, just not terribly memorable either.

It took me a long time to finish this book, partly because I was enamored with the historical portion of Rose and Helen, and quite bored with the present day chapters. I loved the concept and the idea of the story so I continued to read on. I think the last 200 pages are the best, when things start to happen. A wonderful story of love, tragedy, fame, early endings, and new beginnings.

Great story.

This book tells a very interesting story while solving the mystery of the violin with the rose on it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Listened to this on Audible. At times it dragged, and the narrator's voice was nasally and annoying. But it was a pretty good story.

Show of hands for those that don’t mind when one of the many mysteries of a book doesn’t have closure...Anybody? No one? That’s right! Nobody! I was so prepared to give this book all the stars right until the last page read. I adored this book and will treasure it always. It shares so many beautiful visuals of areas in Indonesia. I enjoyed learning so much. I adored all the characters, even the less than desired ones (there’s only 1 or 2).

If you love a beautiful, sad, mysterious story that also involves a violin and its music, please give this one a try. Just don’t expect the answer to a MAIN mystery in the book. ;)
