Just like a newb in gaming, I found this book slow to start, but it started to pick up pace as more of the game/story went on.

Keira is one of a handful of black students at her school, by night she is the developer of a MMORP for black players, SLAY.

When one of the gamers is killed IRL, SLAY is hurled into the spotlight around the world. Kiera must fight to save her game in both worlds.

Race is also a major part of this book, and although I am unqualified to comment on it, I appreciate how the author has included it as commentary and teaching/learning for readers.

My favorite book so far this year! It's exciting and I loved and rallied for the main characters. Being a woman in I.T. my whole life I am cheering full on this whole book. Also, I definitely was moved to tears and literally cried a half dozen places in the story, wow.  So moving. Black Lives Matter! I love this story 100%

I read this one in one day thanks to an extra long commute. I really loved this one. It's a little different than what I expected, but in a great way. This had some really good commentary and friendships. I also saw that this author thought of this idea after watching Black Panther so I think if you liked both that and Ready Player One you will like this.
