I really wanted to like this book more but, like it's predecessor, the relationship dynamics leave a bad taste in my mouth. The plot twists from the first book are really satisfying, but the "mates" stuff is really uncomfortable and doesn't fit in with the lush fantasy of the rest of the book.

That being said I'll probably continue reading the series. I like the characters and the fantasy elements are generally well done. I like that this is a ya book that doesn't shy from violence, but it also doesn't relish violence either.

I'll continue to fast forward through the "mates" stuff and many of the sex scenes, but that isn't a total deal breaker for me.

Rating: 5 stars

Feyre must learn to cope with the aftermath of Under the Mountain and the events of ACOTAR, as well as the bargain she made with Rhysand.

This book is phenomenal, so I’ll keep it short and sweet. I was so skeptical that Rhysand could ever win me over after the first book, but I was fully converted in record time. Chapter 54 is one of the best things I’ve ever read and I don’t really have words beyond that. I screamed, I cried, I swooned, I squealed.

CW: War/blood/violence; emotional abuse; suicidal thoughts; discussion of sexual assault

I don't know what to say about this book. I finished it at 6 AM today and I hadn't slept the whole night reading it.
I think so far it was the best book I've read in 2022.
I cried, I laughed, I got excited, I got angry and disappointed. I felt a lot while reading this book.
Pure art.

as opposed to the first book (a court of thorns and roses) this fucking book BLEWWWWW my expectations out the fucking window bro. this book was slow to start but it all ties in so f-ing well and its so good. it made me sad, it made me laugh, it made me question everything id known prior and made me sob. IT IS SOOOO GOOD probably one of my favorite books.

the main character ( feyre )in this book goes through so many changes and at times she freaking pissed me off, but by the end she made yet another ULTIMATE  sacrifice to save everyone. so freaking good.  it also really changed my perspective and made me love rhysand more than i thought i would.

chapter 55????? 🌶️🌶️🌶️
13/10.
