This is the second book in the series with Eddie Flynn as the main character. I enjoyed the previous book so expected to like this one too and I did! Very much! It's fast paced...literally you get thrown into the action on page 1 and it hardly ever lets up. It's very courtroom based and I did find (because I'm a bit dim when it comes to the law and how these things work) that I was very confused with all the lawyer and courtroom lingo. I did find a lot of it quite "waffley" and hard to follow at times and the plot got a bit confusing towards the end, but overall I really enjoyed this fast paced crime thriller. Will definitely be reading the rest in the series.

Good Points: I do love Eddie Flynn. He loves his family and will do anything to protect them. He also takes no s**t and is pretty good in a fight too. His sarcasm and knowledge of the law in second to none. He definitely makes this series amazing.

Not so Good Points: Confusing courtroom information and a complicated plotline.

I loved this book! It was such a fast paced and action packed thriller. I love how it blended a courtroom drama with a mystery thriller. The writing was so good - tense, funny and interesting. It was so engaging. I absolutely love Eddie. He is literally one of my all time favourite characters now. He’s smart, witty and actually has a good heart. I love how determined Eddie was to do what was right. I was so pleased that the Lizard was in this book. He’s… crazy, but I love him. All the other characters were well written - I wasn’t sure who to trust because most of them were suspicious to me. I enjoyed watching all their secrets get revealed. The plot was complex and had so many layers to it which I loved uncovering. It had so much going on: murders, cons, money laundering, courtroom scenes and even the cartel. It honestly did shock me a lot - there were some big twists that I definitely did not see coming! The way it all played out and was revealed was amazing. It was very explosive and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the ending.

My 6P review: Publication, Plot, People, Place, Prose/Pace, Praise

David Child has been arrested for the murder of his girlfriend and the FBI want Eddie Flynn to testify against his employer. The evidence is clear-cut but Eddie is not convinced David is guilty. When Eddie is shown incriminating evidence against his wife, Christine, Eddie not only finds himself trying to save David but must also try to save his wife.

Cavanagh can write, let me tell you. I am not normally one who is cheering on the defence lawyer but in this series, I just can’t help myself. The distinction between being a con artist and a lawyer isn’t that clear (aren’t they one and the same?) and Eddie’s skills are sublime.

The story begins with Eddie being shot and from there the story takes us on a rollercoaster of emotions and action. This was fast-paced, and I was constantly wondering where it was going to take me next.

The plot wasn’t even that far-fetched. Money can make people do a lot of things in life. It was fantastic the way Eddie figures out who are the rats in this story. His gut is once again working overtime.

This was excellent. I highly recommend this series.
