“She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius—and she would not be afraid.”
Started this book on the way to Japan and got to halfway by the time we were flying back to the Philippines after 4 days. I love how SJM alternates POV because it's not how she wrote ACOTAR. In this book, it's definitely important especially when we get to Manon's POV - although this was where I deducted my ratings because I'm mostly bored when it comes to her chapters. But it is great to see what was happening on the enemies' side (even if it's against my wishes, I'd still read it).
This book is solely focused on Celaena embracing herself as Aelin. It was also here where we got to see and peek through what she had gone through in Terrasen, her backstory. We saw Rowan trying his best to train her to become what she is - a powerful Fae. It was pretty slow at the start but by the time I got to more than a quarter of the book, it picked up, especially by the last hundred pages (as any SJM book). By the end, I was just brawling and so tempted to just hug Aelin for what she had gone through. Back to Adarlan though, we saw Chaol and Dorian having their fight and was introduced to new characters, Aedion and Sorscha. I love seeing Aedion's point of view and was thoroughly pleased to see that he is on Aelin's side. Sorscha though, I wasn't too pleased. I didn't like being in the point of view of a girl in love from afar. Funny how her and Dorian did get together though. It was pretty fast, imo. Chaol though... I was just at this point, confused where he stands. I know where Dorian stands but Chaol was a bit messy for me. Either way, I was just looking forward to being in Wendlyn together with Aelin and Rowan - this is where it gets really intense.
Can't wait to get through the rest of the series! I'm so invested!

There were so many new characters that I absolutely loved. I hope I get the chance to see them again later in the series. It was neat to see the references back to the little novellas that accompany the series. I'm excited to see if the characters will play a major role in the future.

Read at your own risk!!
Wow!!! What an crazy, twisting ride this was!!!! I absolutely loved this one! I felt like it started out slow and to be honest, I did NOT like Rowan in the beginning. The witch story seemed to start out a little slow, but I knew the details were building up to something good! I'm also blown away about the towers and their connection and how it ties in to magic disappearing! And when Dorian revealed his magic to the king, I nearly threw the book because I thought for sure the King was going to kill him!!! I cried over Sorscha's death!! Like why...😪🤧😭 I was loving the whole forbidden love side story. And of course she died... Oh man, when I say I was a mess...😭😪🤧 I felt like she was a good healer, not only for his body but also good for helping him heal his soul after all he's been dealing with!!!😭 Loved almost learning more about Celaena's background and family... I was hit with all the feelings... And to watch her start to slowly accept her true self and to become bolder, oh MAN! Emrys and Luca were also fantastic characters! I enjoyed the history and enjoyed even more watching Celaena bravely face her crazy, psychopath Aunt! And what she did for Rowan and how they bonded slowly over time was enjoyable. It was comical how they went from hating each other to slowly bonding and growing closer!! At first, it seemed like he was inclined to hate her and not help her in the slightest! But they both change and evolve so much! Given that they've both been through hell, they complement each other and help each other grow very well.
Such a fantastic read!!
