If it had made me cry it would be a 5/5. Maas is a phenomenal writer who draws you into a world so unlike our own. Rumors of magic, love and loss, and Bonds to be Found, Broken, and Created take the lead in the themes through this book.

We still love all of the characters from previous books, but the new characters we meet find their way into our hearts too.

Maas lights a small candle flame of hope in our hearts when all feels like despair.

We are rooting for Aelin, to whatever end. 🖤🙌🏻

This series is going to give me a heart attack, I swear. Holy heck, SJM, you really know how to build the drama!

This one starts slow and has more world-building right at the beginning. We're on a different continent so it's useful and important information, but between the new info, cast of characters, and Celaena/Aelin's dark emotiotional state, there was some effort required to get going. Manon is interesting and I can't wait to see what happens with the Thirteen and Abraxos. Also I'm curious to see what Chaol gets up to moving forward. He's very.... Chaol-y, but still. What's your next move, bud?

She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius—and she would not be afraid.

3.5☆ but I still enjoyed it pretty much a lot. I couldn't put it down.
The writing is really good, addictive. The world, the magic, Celaena's adventures - all were very interesting to see. Not gonna lie, I was here mainly for Celaena kicking the King's ass and Chaol and Dorian helping her in that. I mostly enjoyed the book, however! There were triggering upsetting moments present (
descriptions of Celaena's past in Endovier, Manon's cruelty and her grandmother's, Maeve's cruelty, cruelty towards wyverns
). Those moments quite ruined the enjoyment of the book, that's why 3.5 stars and not 4 or more, alas. Other than that I really loved this book, as much as I did with previous two in the series.
P.S. it's really cute that Sarah Maas included her dog in acknowledgements!

Ooohh this book was good!
Every storyline was interesting and served to move the plot forward in a way that made sense.
Celaena's character growth in this was great. This book really feels like a turning point in the series, and I love it!

As usual, SJM puts the last 20% of the book in chaos mode and I have never been more grateful to not have to wait for the next book in a series to come out.
