This book was complicated. It was good, and I genuinely enjoyed the premise right up until the end. It was kind of weirdly ambiguous there, but also not bad either. I think it ended on a good ambiguous ending, given everything we know about the main character, but at the same time I wish there was more…resolution is the wrong word. But something along those lines. But aside from that, genuinely this was a good read.

Good quick read! Kept me guessing what's reality and what's not till the end.

the sci fi element is an interesting thought and the whole concept of filming til death is shown through an exaggerated, darkly ironic way. i like the idea of truth fighting with a built or false perception of another.

but. i found the whole thing surface at best. there is barely any world building for a world based in some sort of fantasy, or mind-created delusion. it lacked character depth. everyone, everything is unknown. the female lead is a classic manic pixie dream girl, the main character is so manic and flighty we never know him, only his surface feelings. you could argue that this story's shortcomings lend itself to the narrators unreliability and projected traumatic response --- but idk. i just didn't see that.

the ending is good though. the explosion was a good touch.
