The pacing varies through the story based on the events and grows more tense throughout the trilogy. Secrets are revealed and questions answered as more questions arise. I’m glad I was able to read straight through without having to wait for the next book to be published. You hope for happiness for the main character but don’t always know who she should trust. A truly enjoyable read.

Abbey has got professional help because of her hallucinations, but it soon turns out that Caspian is actually real - well, as real as a dead guy can be. And on top of that there are some weird, new, skin-crawl-inducing people in town.

I read this as a teenager but I didn't remember a lot, so some turns really took my by surprise. I really enjoyed the expansion of the fantasy element, but I could have done well with less of the cheesy I'm-gonna-love-you-forever-talk between two teenagers.
