Not bad. But I never got very invested in Oscar. And it was repetitive. And even though I agree with her that the justice system is pretty messed up, the way she inserted it seemed off topic and pedantic.

Interesting subject and seems well-researched but I found it repetitive and not very engaging.

Solidly good book - I’m embarrassed as a mystery lover with an intrigue of true crime that I didn’t know about Heinrich. He basically was the first expert in techniques he created. He was also not the first or the last to struggle with science communication to the layperson. The cases used were intriguing. It would have been 4 stars but it was kind of all over the place, talking about a case and then something else and then back to another case.

I picked up the book to listen to because of the interesting premise, but I did not like the way the author mixed storytelling with facts and how she regurgitated the detective's opinions about women and other things that were usual for his time but did not need to be repeated as fact in the 20th century.
