4.5 stars! This was a really solid conclusion to the series! The pace of the action was kept up, but there were still surprises and I felt like Cass really grew as a character throughout this series. I really enjoyed it and thought it was a very satisfying read! Perfect for Series Saturday! And now my experience with the Secrets of the Eternal Rose trilogy is over... Sadface...

A nice, sweet ending.
Cass's love life was much more tolerable in 'Starling'. She gets over her whole Falco-Luca issues quickly in this one, thankfully. That made the book much more interesting because she was focusing on the destruction of the Order of the Eternal Rose.
Every loose end gets tied up in 'Starling'. Paul did a great job in making sure that you have no questions what so ever about anything. The paths that the characters are taking are made quite clear.
Cass becomes more independent in this book. I liked the fact that she no longer wants to run away, she wants to fight. The majority of this book is spent with her devising her own plans and focusing on destroying the Order before figuring out her personal drama. She learns stuff about her self, and her beliefs. This book was the most religious out of all of them. Cass comes to terms with the fact that she was in love with 2 men and she chooses. I was very impressed with the fact that she pushed that aside so that she could deal with the Order first.
Lots of characters come back from the first novel and it all comes full circle. Also, even when you think that the action is done, it isn't done! Paul created a bunch of surprises that come out at the perfect times of the book. I have to say that the plot was really well done.
A pretty good historical series about a crazy group trying to find immortality. It also takes you through historical Venice and Florence. Definitely one to check out if you are into Chick Lit, Romance, with some crazies and historical fiction!

It was a nice ending to a good series. I liked that we were able to see Cass grow and make her own choices and nothing just happened for the sake of moving forward in the story.
I think this was my favorite of the trilogy! By "Starling," Cassandra has grown into a smart, tough young woman with incredible - though not unrealistic - strength. Fiona Paul made a real point of character growth here and I appreciated it.
She also manages to sort out her love triangle in a reasonably mature, not overly angsty way. I was so glad it was Luca she ended up with; sure, Falco had all the heat and the sexy, but it's nice to see the nice, solid guy win for once, and to send the message that there isn't this One True, Searing, Sexually Charged love in life that happens and steals you away forever. You can have feelings for MULTIPLE people and they're still valid, and sometimes there are Lucas who you have to grow to love, but then you do and it's good.
Also, something about the resolve that I liked:that they gave all the evidence and shit to someone else, and everything got taken care of without their involvement.
Also-also, loved the girls of Palazzo Dolce.

Well that's it. Starling is just as exciting as the first two, if not more. There was a good-but-not-too-perfect ending that I admired even though everything didn't turn out as awesomesocks as I had hoped. Fiona has a strong voice and I hope she keeps on writing, especially historical stories.
With Cass and Luca on the run, they seek to find the book of the Eternal Rose to clear Luca's name and end the vampire attacks. But with Luca still healing and Cass unsure of the book's location, it's only a matter of time before the members of the Eternal Rose catch up with them. Cass and Luca will have to navigate through the society's dangerous secrets to end their evil once and for all.
Starling was a great conclusion to the series. There were many interesting and surprising twists as the story went on. The story is quite fast paced and it was fun to watch Cass become more active in her search for the book. Her character really stepped into her own and discovered who she really wanted to be despite being chased and kidnapped numerous times. And watching her decide between the two men vying for her heart came to the right conclusion. The end of the series was very well done, leaving me satisfied and happy for the characters.
