4 stars.

Another wonderful installment in this series. I read it SO slowly because I kept getting distracted with other things, but I consumed the whole second half between last night and this morning and now I want the next book immediately.

I really need Jean Guy to talk to a professional, though...

What I loved: the ongoing story of these characters and the continuation of plotlines from other books.
What I didn't: this particular mystery wasn't terribly compelling to me.

Ahhh...Three Pines just can't keep murder out of it's village. If they had a tourist office, there would probably be maps of where all the death occurred in some sort of dark and twisted murder tour. Ms. Penny also seemed to enjoy that fact Three Pines is a murder magnet and several times had the characters mention, in humor, about that fact.

This mystery focused on Clara's successful solo show at the Musee in Montreal and then the murder of a former friend in her garden later that night. Once again Ms. Penny weaves a tense and suspenseful storyline with the steady and tenacious Chief Gamache and his trusty second, Inspector Beauviour. Set in the cruel world of art critics and artists, Gamache uncovers secrets and lies to understand the why and the who in his world of homicide.
