I often go back to Celia Lake's stories when I’m having trouble finding a new book to read. They’re a type of comfort read - I know I’ll enjoy it, the stakes are usually low, the characters and situations are interesting and there’s usually a low key, non-angsty romance.
The Seven Sisters was one of my favorites of the series. Vivian Porter is asked to investigate some uncanny things happening at a country house. I liked the country home turned boarding house setting and I liked all of the main characters, especially Cadmus who is autistic, although it isn’t labeled in the book (but is in the author’s content notes). I thought his characterization was handled very well in the story. He is a classical translator and, as I’ve done a little translation, I enjoyed those parts of the book. I also liked how he used metaphors and allusions to Ancient Greek stories and figures to explain his world. It seemed very much what he would do and it gave a lot of color to his personality. There’s a low key romance between these two mature characters.

An enjoyable mystery and view into the Fatae mentioned in other books, but the romance did not catch on for me. Rather disappointing as I like to see later in life romances. Enjoyable, but definitely not a top book of Albion.
