This was really good. Cassius is a sociopathic rich socialite, who stumbles upon Adam, an up and coming beautiful actor and extreme narcissist. Adam is also our Dorian Gray in this retelling.

Together they attempt to conquer Hollywood. Cassius molds Adam into his sexy but stupid himbo A-lister and for the most part he’s none the wiser to Cassius’ unscrupulous methods of helping Adam achieve his goals. To be honest there isn’t ALOT happening in this story. But watching Cassius and Adam’s dynamic was entertaining enough for me. I’m doing a bad job of convincing anyone to read this book but I promise it’s good.

My only gripe is that toward the end, it becomes clear that Adam loves himself sooooo much that I’m not sure there’s any room to truly love Cassius. Which is a bit distressing for me. I mean it ends in an HEA don’t get me wrong. But it felt kind of superficial on Adam’s part. Then again…. Adam is incredibly superficial soooo there’s that 🫠

4⭐️ 5
CW: violence, sexual aggression, CNC, drugs, emotional manipulation
MOOD: dark, tense, emotional, funny
TROPES: small town boy, age gap, CNC & so many kinks

FAV QUOTE: A shivery thrill runs through me. I love it when Cassius takes control. Competence is my kink.

I have been working my way through the Monsters & Mayhem series. This is one of the darker books and it doesn't have any magic/paranormal aspects.

THE GOOD: Instalust and a good mix of naivety and obsession. Hollywood setup and a plethora a side characters to keep you entertained. Variety of spicy scenes too. I really enjoyed Larua Lascarso's writing; I'll check out more of their books.
THE NEUTRAL: I was slightly surprised by the ending and lack of paranormal.
THE MEH: Nothing to report here.

These characters fit this story but I had a hard time reading this because for the most part I didn’t like them but again had I read the book this is suppose to resemble I might have had a better feel for them.
They do fit the story. Cassius has learned his behavior since being a child. He is a bit too much since he uses people for his selfishness. Adam is a wonderful toy for him. He is innocent to most things around him and Cassius is more than willing to show him.
Adam is somewhat beautiful but has this appetite for sex that has no boundaries. He also has this need to be “beautiful”. Again, at any cost. He gets used by more than Cassius in this endeavor.
This has plenty of mind games, twists and surprises. This comes from an author who again shows how talented her writing is.

I’d expected something much darker, but this was actually kind of cute? At least for me and my skewed moral compass.
