I am really enjoying this series so far. The plots are very good and keep me interested. I didn't give it 5 stars because I wish the books would include her relationship with Sam and Adam just a tad bit more. Other then that its a really good series.

Really not sure what category this falls into. It's definitely paranormal, but it's not exactly action/suspense and not exactly romance. (In fact, after all the hints in book 1 I could have done with a bit more romance in this one.)

I'm getting a little tired of all the paranormal books piling on every kind of creature - werewolves, ghosts, vampires, witches, sorcerers, vampire sorcerers, oh, and of course, coyote-shaped metamorphs! I just hope it doesn't make me all jaded toward the Sookie Stackhouse novels now, as I have a bunch more of those to read. I'm just starting to wish that people would pick ONE, or maybe two creature(s) and do them really really well, rather than throwing in everything but the kitchen sink.

That said, the book was ok and I will probably continue with this series at some point.

I really liked the story. I don’t usually care for vampire stuff but these vampires are pretty cool, the fae are great and the rules of various magics are interesting. I’m excited to read more. BUT a few things made me want to throw my kindle against the wall; the way the book waves away seducing minors and gets real hand wringy over an abortion. There were several other weird things that raised my hackles but I soldier on because I need my urban fae fix!

Please be warned that the next book has a rape in it and proceed with caution!

Another good book and probably just a little better than the last (story wise it had more intrigue). I don't particularly like urban fantasies. I like the traditional magic books (or more subdue types), but -- I have to say -- Briggs is converting me to a werewolf fan. It's hard not to get involved into the workings of the pack and all the intricate details that Briggs weaves into it (the stances, stares, body language, etc). I think I like the complexities because it gives my mind something to work on while I'm enjoying the books and makes it just that much more "real" and allows you to get involved in the story. While the first book was more about the werewolves business, this one moves more to the vampire world. So you get to learn more about their intricacies as a seethe. This one is a little more violent than the last, but I think it's hard not to be more violent when you have vampires involved. :) It's not particularly gory or anything, but it was an interesting contrast. The story was still good and the dominance play for Mercy between Samuel and Adam is interesting and not the focus of the story (which is nice, but an also nice side story).
