i'm so sorry miss dakota but i couldn't do it... i appreciate this book SO MUCH but i just didn't have the headspace to trudge through the heavy literary style.

listen to the audiobook!!!! i struggle to read prose that’s broken up and styled in the way this book is, so listening to it gave me the full harrowing devastating experience of taking in this story. absolutely crushing story of abuse. don’t expect to finish this and feel good! that’s my cup of tea though and i loved how irish it was so good rating from me

Written in non- grammatical fractured prose
Brutal and shocking in parts
Found it hard going due to the writing style

Took a while to get into it and contemporary Irish speech and syntax gives me a heckuva headache, but I can appreciate McBride's style and story.
