A prince scapes from his monotonous golden jail and discovers the world, not only through his eyes, but trough a lot of discussion with his sister Nekaya and his servant. Entertaining and didactic, very XVIIIth century.

I'm going to write a longer review - probably tomorrow. But here's a few notes:
- you need good notes. This edition has them. Which effectively doubles the book's page count. The actual text is 109 pages.
- it reminded me - oddly - of a mash up of Gulliver's Travels and Sophie's World. A philosophical journey rather than an adventure story with 18th century satire.
- I'm surprised this one hasn't been scooped up by the bro literati and quotes hoovers for self-help posters and internet memes like Sun Tzu, Marcus Aurelius, and Rumi. Probably a bit too outside the knowledge bubble but if I was a YouTuber seeking to carve out a niche or a publisher this might be an ideal book to mine.
- I couldn't hear this in any other voice than Robbie Coltrane's Samuel Johnson from Blackadder III
- Someone once said that all of Aaron Sorkin's characters sound like Aaron Sorkin. I think all the characters in this sound like Samuel Johnson.
- Johnson is a man I'd like to know more about and there is some of this book is rehashing things he wrote elsewhere or dealing with issues that he himself was thinking about, particularly the later part of the book around the astronomer that deals with depression and the possibilities of madness.
- This is a book written by a man on top of the intellectual fashions and discussions happening in the world.

Too basic to be enlightening; too philosophical to be entertaining. Maybe one day I'll like something I read for this class...
