Four stars mostly because of the art, otherwise, it's sort of a three-star story. And I'm a little conflicted about that; the story is actually pretty cool, and kept me tuned-in the whole time. There are a few simple moments of discord where the scene seems to hiccup, and I went back to make sure I hadn't missed something in between. Small things, minor discrepancies with way events played-out, or slightly weak points in the development. These things don't tarnish the whole of 'Killjoys' for me, but they're there. I feel as though it's important to mention all that based on the fact I came to this a massive fan of (every aspect of) 'Umbrella Academy'. I expected this to be perfectly awesome, but instead feel it was definitely almost there.

I do love the concepts here, and particularly this sci-fi scene that's been cultivated into an odd future. I just wish it had played out over at least a couple more issues. Glad for six, but it could really have used eight to twelve to encapsulate everything going on.

Did not anticipate my first read of the year to heavily feature the Bury Your Gays Gays trope. I typically love what Gerard Way puts out (both his music and comics) but this really missed the mark for me. It's really a shame most of the characters were either awful or LGBT rep that is killed off for shock value. The world presented here (as first shown in the Danger Days album) is unique and filled with interesting dystopian/cyberpunkish ideas. I'll give the followup series a shot since I love the album so much, maybe by 2021 they moved away from such outdated handling of gay characters.

i read this because i love my chemical romance, and i definitely wasn't disappointed. first of all, there is an F/F and an M/M couple. like, canonical. second, the main character is the little girl from the 'sing' and 'na na na' mv. and just. it's good. and i love red and blue. so much. i recommend.
