Just read the first story after finishing the Vampire Mage series. This prequel has some plot holes that doesn’t make sense. Is Caine’s brother named Malphas or Malphus? Did he spend 5 years or 20 years trying to forget the events that started their story? (How could it be 5 years if she was 4 when her parents died and was now an adult?). He was the one who send the sisters to the Brotherhood, so why he was thinking he didn’t know what had happened to them (he could have said that but the paragraph was structured as his own thoughts, so hard to say).

This anthology includes 3 short stories linked to CN Crawfords other series.
Shadow mage is linked to the vampires mage series and is told from caines pov, I read this after finishing the series and it was interesting getting a certain part of the story from his pov.
The angel and the beast is linked to the shadow and flames series and features zee and kester. I also read this after finishing the series so i enjoyed reading an extra scene with these 2 characters
The abysmal sea is linked to the memento mori series which I have not read yet. It follows Isolde and lir and I quite enjoyed it, I got more into the story when I recognised some of the gods name from the shared worlds of the other series
