Kind of … speechless right now. This was an emotional rollercoaster and so many of the scenes and sentences in this are so beautifully sad and deep and poignant. This felt to me like the universe apologizing for me reading my year of rest and relaxation (which I hate the further I get from it) — this book was an answer to that. It emotionally captured the same idea without being fucking miserable. This is a story for women in their twenties !!!!! Strongly recommend

Why the fuck did she get played twice lmaooooo

This book didn’t really click with me. I think the obsessive notion on the back of the book wasn’t really the driving force of the plot. The main character’s flaws and mistakes were more of a highlight in my opinion, which often left me irritated.

I really wanted to like this book – it started out very interesting – but I really don't. Latent racism, unnecessary violence, sphinx without a secret. I'm sad at how angry this book made me.

This is a dark, tragic, emotional ride, and nothing really happens for 3/4s of the book but it’s wonderful, and it's beautiful and I devoured it.

The descriptions of the mundane and small feels revolutionary and so vivid. It reads like poetry. Its smart, it's go subtext, it loops on itself, it's funny, it's sad - chefs kiss 💋

For fans of My Year of Rest and anything Ottesa Moshfegh, The New Me and Boy Parts.

Nightshift was a story of intoxicating infatuation and obsession, an exploration of sexuality and queerness, and an addictive read.

I was always dying to carry on when I’d finished and loved the experience of listening to it. It wasn’t really what I was expecting at first but it was so much better than that, and it really deserves the highest of praise.

There are some very emotional and challenging elements to the book from start to finish, as we explore the characters and learn more about their experiences and interactions. The ending was unexpected but it really finished the story off perfectly and in a very believable, finite way.

I really do think that Nightshift will stay with me for a very long time and would highly recommend it. 5 stars.
