I enjoyed the book and was curious enough to keep turning the pages until the book was finished. However, what started out as a regular contemporary sounding sort of book, went unexpectedly dark towards the end - very suddenly; one thing after another packed into a short amount of time. The plot also includes themes such as drugs, rape, self harm and toxic relationships. After I finished the book I found myself staring into space feeling extremely bewildered, not knowing what to make of it. It wasn't a nice feeling at all. Dark books are my preference, however, I've never been left feeling like this before after reading a book.

The characters are extremely screwed up and I had no idea at the start of the book that a relatively contemporary sounding story was going to take such a drastic turn into what felt to me like weirdness. I didn't feel I could relate to any of the characters - the characters were under developed and unlovable and the story was told in a cold matter of fact way.

I didn't have a problem finishing it as I wanted to know what was going to happen next, however, I didn't enjoy how it left me feeling after I had finished it. I would only recommend it to people who like very dark storylines with weird unlovable characters.
