The book tells the history of the McDonald's franchise and the fight to get equality in ownership. It was a fight to get the owndership diversified. When a person of color was approved a franchise they were often only allowed in bad neighborhoods.

The book also goes into some discussion on the health benefits of McDonald's and the connection between poor health and lower income areas. The topic was just brushed across and not covered in detail.
