This is the only book that will get me to the comic book store on Wednesday. I love the concept of this book! I love the characters, the art, the dialogue, everything about it! It's amazing.
This one kind of took a bit for me to get super into it. I liked that we acknowledged that it would have been wrong for Juniper to continue with Mika considering that she doesn't know what's going on with Cason. I love that Cason continues to earn respect in her role as a mother and wife to a sleazebag. I'm interested to see how this thing with Cruz shapes out.
Now, even more interesting was the interview at the end of the book. I learned a lot more about trans issues. I'm always looking for more trans narratives because 1) they're important and 2) I'm always looking for ways to be a better ally. I am wondering if that interview was more about talking about some of the problematic concepts of "gender swap" stories and stories where men and women have to live a day in the other's shoes. I recently learned about why this concept can come across as inherently transphobic and I'm wary of them a lot now.
This interview may have been Simone trying to make sure she wasn't stepping into some problematic territory. OR, it may hint at something for Cason's future. Either way, I learned a lot and if it is hinting at Cason's future, that would be super cool!
Urg! I can't believe I have to wait until October for the next part! :(
