An excellent read, one of the highlights of my reading year so far. I loved the first book and was really looking forward to the second, though I had my doubts, because I really couldn't see how things could work out given how the first book ended. But I had faith, and it was not misplaced. I'll read anything by Heather Walter now.

*Don’t mind me just reviewing some ratings*
I adored book 1 from this duology. This one wasn’t for me though
A few things bugged me enough to make this read un-enjoyable:
1) I understand that Alyce went through some things that changed her at the end of book 1… but to this point? She wasn’t herself at all. I didn’t recognize the Alyce from book 1 and she was very delusional. Enough that she actually got on my nerves.
2) I was intensely rooting for Aurora+Alyce in book 1 but that completely changed in book 2. They were toxic for each other and it seemed like Aurora barely tolerated her while Alyce was outright obsessed. Aurora did some things to Alyce that weren’t nice either…
3) there’s a lot of filler. I lost myself in fillers for 200-300 pages. I think it could’ve been shorter
I think this book could really be an enjoyable read for some, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for me
