I love the blend of film noir with 80s tech and neon in the artwork. The story was interesting, with a blend of classic detective plus voodoo deities. The ending definitely left me wanting more. The cast of characters were intriguing. I really like the style and I hope that this continues. I received this from Net Galley for my honest opinion.

Noir with a gorgeous VHS aesthetic. Weird but entirely internally consistent.

Hey, I can take graphic graphic-novels, so to speak. But, if I am going to have violence, I need there to be some meaning behind them.

This is the story of a detective who has lost his memory, in a setting not unlike New Orleans, but with weird creatures and videos that make reality, and...honestly, I had no idea what was going on half the time, and after a while I didn't really care.

So, sure, have fun with this one. Interesting art work. Confusing as hell, and I still don't know what happened in the end, even though I read this, begrudgingly, twice.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing this book for an honest review.

That was weird. It's hard to believe that a book with luchadors & New Orleans would be something I didn't dig, but it's true!

I got a copy from Netgalley for review.

I honestly wanted to like this so much, the description sounded so awesome. But no matter how hard I try, I couldn't get into it–it was confusing, and all over the place. By the time I reached halfway, I felt really bored and I just wanted it to end.

I rated this 2 stars for the art and colors used.

*I picked this graphic novel up from Net Galley*

The cover was the first thing that drew me in.
The art style within the graphic novel was really effective. Quite a simple colour palette, simple style but it really suited the story.
I liked the new age twist on Shaman's. It was something that could be realistic, and something that was explained within the story as well. It was unique and I feel like it really worked.
Overall this graphic novel was great, I really enjoyed it and I am really glad the cover jumped out at me :)

What are weird, wonderful story. I'm still not sure I completely comprehend it, but I still enjoyed it. I love when the interplay of magic and tech is well-done, and this story does it nicely. The art is simple and eye-catching. Recommended.

Thanks to NetGalley, Diamond Distributors, and Image Comics for a copy in return for an honest review.

Clay has gotten a new identity. He doesn’t remember anything of his life before nine months ago. He now works as a private investigator. One day, a singer named Ms. Bridgette asks him to investigate her boss. She tells him she saw something strange happen with him in a room with other people. He was sitting in front of a TV and a man climbed out of it. But then her boss heard her standing in the doorway behind and saw her there. She wants Clay to investigate and find out what was happening. Her boss is a dangerous man, and her request puts Clay, Bridgette, and Clay’s roommate in danger.

This graphic novel is science fiction. It takes place in another world from ours. Everyone has different colour skin: Clay is blue, Bridgette is red, and Clay’s roommate Sandy is green.

The font of the speech was different for different characters. It distinguished who was talking. Sometimes the speech boxes were even different colours which related back to their different skin colours.

This story had everything, from cannibals to skeletons to mobsters. It was kind of weird and strange, but in a good way, so I couldn’t put the book down.
