I didn't expect to love this as much as I did! Mostly because I don't read Marvel comics, or comics in general. BUT! I gave Gwen Pool a chance, so I decided to give this one a chance too!
And OH MY GOD IT HIT ME HARD IN THE GUT! I grew attached to Moon Girl and her quest to cure herself, and I genuinely felt frustrated and angry when the grown-ups around her didn't understand her pain, and didn't understand her rejection of normalcy. Not gonna lie, I was also the kid (and probably still am the type of person) who doesn't like being normal, or like everyone else, so I related to Lunette's hurt and pain. She doesn't want to have to fit into a box that isn't meant for her, she's a circle in a world full of squares, and doesn't want to become a square.
Devil Dinosaur was the one who truly understood her, and throughout the comic, you see their bond grow, to the point where this Dinosaur protects her, and lets her vent and rant. It's so adorable and cute. I also love the contrast between this small tiny nerd, and this huge T-Rex!
The comic is not only beautifully illustrated, but also just generally well done-- you see the stakes that are at hand, completely understand them, and wonder how Moon Girl is gonna survive. The thought that her body could be completely taken away from her without a moments notice, and no one seems to care or bat an eye, is horrifying, and the fact that this girl has her childhood taken away from her because of her condition, and she's the only one who cares, is.. well, sad. And it makes you root for her even more.

I couldn't help but emphasize with Lunette, because she was a kid who didn't have a choice. She had to hurry up and grow up, so she could continue to be HERSELF. And the world didn't understand that, but a T-Rex did! I need to buy all available volumes, because I NEED VOLUME TWO SOOO BAD! The story is so good, so amazing, and it's that perfect combination of brilliant artwork, met with amazing story telling. I really recommend!!

This was a nice break from your typical Marvel hero. I really liked that the narration actually sounded like a 9 year old girl, all ego and extremes and stubbornness.

I TRIED so hard to like this book. I really did. I love the art and it is super adorable, but I just could not lose myself in the story. I really hate how Marvel will introduce a new character, but you need to go back and read volume 19 of Thor to know what the hell is going on. I find that ridiculous. There was so much text already on the page just explain what you need to explain. I couldn't connect with the character and it was all kind of bizarre and I'm not really sure what happened. I was more lost than hooked when I finished the graphic. It's worth looking at the art, but the story was lacking.

This is a really fun, charming read. I found myself swept up in Luna's story and utterly charmed right from the start. I find some of the complaints of the story getting too "illogical" a bit silly. It's all very comic book, yes. But I think that's part of the fun of it all. Luna quickly joins a superhero world and all the trappings of that, yes. But there's still a lot of spirit and heart at the center of the story.

Cute, but Luna was annoying.

I love love love the art, and lord knows I need an endless supply of dinosaurs in my life. But I don't think I've quite found my groove with comics yet so I probably won't continue in the series.
