The book says one thing but does something completely different. I really didn’t like Aleksio because he shouldn’t be in charge with the way he’s acting, and Mira is annoying.

Spoiler The book starts with Aleksio making all these threats and trying to act tough, but as soon as he has to actually do something to Mira or Viktor says he’ll do something, Aleksio turns so protective that it makes the whole plot/point of the story seem fake.

It doesn’t stop there though. Mira’s father murdered Aleksio’s parents and got rid of them (the brothers), so the whole plot is based on the brothers getting revenge and destroying/killing Mira’s father. Yet the second Mira says that it’s still her father, he immediately says that they won’t kill him. What was the point in going to him in the first place then??

Another thing that annoyed me was how Aleksio kept saying things about how his brothers are the most important thing for him, but he always seems to side with Mira while saying that he’s doing everything he can to find Kiro at the same time. For example, Mira tries to run so Viktor raises some valid concerns and yet Aleksio ignores it all.

I hated everything about Aleksio (his fake devotion to his brothers and the fake tough persona which disappears the second Mira appears), so I couldn’t finish this book. I’m not going to continue with this series, and I don’t know if this author is for me.

What a TREAT this series is. It's bananas! It's bonkers! It's everything I've ever wanted from a mafia romance! And this first book is nothing compared to the bananas plots of the following two books. Read this catnip.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance my-review-updated Dark Mafia Prince is not a book I would normally pick up on my own, but when I read a very positive review from Mandi over at Smexy books....I knew I had to pick this one up and I am so glad that I did!!! Annika Martin wrote such a superb read. It sets out with Aleksio and Mira, were once childhood friends. But then Aleksio's parents were murdered and he and his two younger brothers were shipped away to different places to training camps. But Aleksio has never forgotten Mira or the fact that her father was behind the attacks against his parents and he has been wanting revenge and the location of his youngest brother. Unfortunately Mira is put in the middle. Mira has lived a life that is far different than what most people expect of her. She doesn't live in a mansion with a huge property, but in the midst of a crowded city, working as a lawyer to help needy families. When she comes back for a visit for her father, her life is thrown a curveball. She is taken captive by the one man that once was a childhood friend and she once thought she could trust with her life. She doesn't know what to expect from him, but she is determined to learn the truth just as he is. As Aleksio and Mira reconnect once again, they join forces to bring down the real enemies and find the location of his youngest brother. But will their love be their undoing or their greatest strength....

What a story and packed with so much and I honestly wasn't expecting to be swept away by this story. But boy was I and I couldn't contain my excitement with each chapter of these two rekindling a old friendship and a new passion for each other. Now the chemistry between them is scorching hot but so well done!! At first, they both are under difficult circumstances, and man does the story really get intense at some moments, that you just want to cover your eyes and not read it....but so worth it!! I love how devoted these two become to each other, and even though they each make mistakes they also don't let those mistakes define their relationship. They seriously have quite a few lessons to learn, and along the way overcome issues together. It was quite an exciting and thrilling ride!! Highly Recommend to Mafia or Romantic Suspense fans.
