My cake tips: An hour was way too long for mine, I'd check at 45 minutes and add time accordingly. Crushing almonds instead of using flour gives it a little texture. Used plain yogurt instead of sour cream and it came out good, so you can probably use the cake moistening ingredient of your choice. Makes a simple but tasty almond cake. If you threw in poppyseeds and lemon zest it'd basically be a poppyseed muffin ring.

I agree with the reviewers who say this is for fans of the series only... I have to go back and read Thick as Thieves and the Return of the Thief, I think. I never thought about why Eddis is called Eddis and not Eddia, and how that happened and whether she had to fight to make that happen. I enjoyed the short stories, but I enjoyed the ones most that I could mentally fit in with the books I know and love. Again, must re-read the last two. This is an entertaining companion book and I enjoyed learning about the art that inspired the stories.

I loved this so much. And I dedoerately hope that those hints at the end mean there will be future stories in this world.

I always enjoy returning to the world of the Queen's Thief. This was a lovely little collection of short stories, as well as snippets from Megan Whalen Turner's travels and research. The only downside is that, because it's been a bit since I finished the series, it was hard to place certain characters and settings outside the context of the novels.
