Liv Albert. If you are a podcaster, you might have come across this name. She is the author of “Let’s talk about Myths, baby!” podcast. She features and talk about mostly Greek & Roman mythologies and the way of ancient world. She is amazing and talented. So naturally I went into this illustrated book with high expectations.

Before entering the review, you should know two things about me - I love mythologies; I am a sucker for illustrated books (they make me happy. Don’t judge!).

I knew about 10-15 Greek Gods before reading this book. Had no idea there would be 40+ of them! Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes! This book summaries the glory, popularity, gossip and/or stories for every single one of them with a mesmerising illustration. You could say that this book is a garland for Greek Mythology. Amazeballs!

Another best part? At the end, Liv has listed sources, books and podcasts that are alive out there in the world for further reading and listening! I can’t wait to buy this book for my home library!

Thank you Netgalley & Adams Media (Simon and Schuster) for the arc in exchange for an honest opinion.

As a greek mythology fanatic, all I can say is READ THIS!!! This was absolutely beautiful, albeit short and I WANT MORE from Liv Albert. Also, the illustrations were gorgeous. This book was just beauty on paper. What more can I say?

A wonderful introduction to the world of Greek Mythology. I think it would be a little better used as a reference book rather than read as a full book. The illustrations are stunning and the explanations are very reader-friendly. A very accessible, simplistic and enjoyable introduction to Greek Mythology and the various figures within it.

Quick cute general introductions to many of the Greek gods, goddesses, and others from mythology. If you are looking for something in-depth, this won't be it.

The narrator
The author narrated this and I wasn't a fan. The way she enunciated her words felt off and patronising, especially when she kept using "what's their deal" and "now you know" before/after each story. I get that it was supposed to be a cute catch phrase but it was annoying and kind of felt like... Know-it-all in tone...

The book

This was a great source of a variety of gods/esses, deities, heroes and monsters.

It overviewed all the main legends as well as some of the ones that often get forgotten about, in a consice and easy to follow way.

I did enjoy it debunking or relating to pop culture. This also highlighted some recommendations. Ones I already had on my radar but it was good to get more hype for them.

I think this would be great for beginners to the Greek Pantheon, but even for those who've consumed these legends for a while, you'll get a nice refresher out of it too. I think it's always helpful to hear different voices retelling stories and passing them on to new generations.

I bet the illustrations for this were stunning. I'll have to look into for a physical copy to have a flick through.

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! >(^_^)<

I read this book after finishing the third book of Percy Jackson series, you probably know why:)

The illustration was so pretty! Anyway this book successfully delivers every necessary history about Greek mythology. If you only want to know a brief history of Greek, this book is for you!
