I really love Brittainy's books. There is something real and relatable about her stories. They are not raunchy or rushed. They're not fake or overly emotional that seems fake. It is just enough to make people feel and connect with the characters. Some may call it mushy, but she writes about life so well. Levi's struggles were relatable and Aria's situation is one many teen girls will experience and any one who is a parent could relate to any of the three sets of parents in this story. I can't wait for more from her!

Things I liked about this book:
It had a happy, neatly tied up ending.
The writing was fine.
Levi was the Perfect Boy, but I liked him anyway.

Here are some minor things that still got on my nerves about this book:
Aria is suppose to want to be invisible while making herself incredibly conspicuous.
So. Very. Angsty.
I hated Simon even at the end.
Why did she want to keep the baby daddy a secret so bad?

I think I just cant with protagonists this young.

6 Stars!!!!

Edit: looking back on this. I’d probably give this three stars because I did not like the characters. I just gave it 6 stars because it taught be something about life…

I loved this story! Life isn't always easy and it doesn't always happen how we think it should. Sometimes parents aren't perfect and love shows up when it shouldn't. This author writes beautifully complex, flawed people who make mistakes. There was laughter and tears and a little crazy, but all the best stories include those things. As with many other stories, I wish I knew what came next!

This was such an amazing and beautiful story. I felt so many emotions when reading this. I laughed and I cried. My heart heart for these characters but I also felt happiness and hope. The writing was so beautiful, I was pulled in from the very first page and could not put this book down. I did not want this book to end. Aria and Levi are in high school. They are both dealing with some issues in their personal lives. Aria made one bad decision and her life has been turned upside down. Levi is the new kid in town after moving to spend some time with his estranged father. These characters are remarkable. I loved Levi from the very first moment he appeared in this story. He's funny and kind but most importantly, he sees people for who they really are. He doesn't care about being popular and he follows his heart. I adored him. Aria is extremely strong and my heart really broke for her and the decisions she had to make. I loved these characters, all of them. They are extremely well written and they have real problems. This is one of those books that stay with you forever after you read it. Art & Soul is a top pick of 2015 for me. Highly recommend!!!

Wow, this book. First let me start off by saying amazing writing. This is the second book I have listened to by this author and again she has blown me away.

She is not shy and she tacked some huge topics all in one story. I can’t see that being easy at all but she made them flow so effortlessly.

Levi is 17 and came to get to know is dad better, after losing touch for so many years. Aria is about to deal with a huge life issues, but she has the help of her quirky best friend Simon.

Seriously from teen pregnancy, mental illness, OCD, cancer, adoption, abortion, miscarriage, life and death. This book covers so many topics at such a young age but in a way you get to see love, and strength, and devotion.

I also loved that even though this is “teens” it didn’t feel like an immature book at all. Not all teenagers are about angst to the point of madness. So thank you for that.

I just loved that friendship can grow from the unlikeliest of sources. And maturity come from any age, not just adulthood. Levi, Aria, Simon and Abigail showed us this throughout the book.

🎧 Audio Review 🎧

I loved this book. I loved that it was a YA with real life type of problems and that the characters were 16 years old and didn't act like it. The story line may have been a little heavy, maybe even a bit over the top with just how much could happen to 2 teenagers but with that said I love how they dealt with all of it. It was a love story about 2 people who became adults maybe to young but they grabbed on with both hands and tried to do the best with what they had. I enjoyed the friendships, the family drama and I loved that the main characters were exactly what the other needed. This book made me cry, made me laugh and made my heart all around happy. This is my 2nd book by this author and I've loved them both and plan to continue with her books right away.

The narration of this audiobook was perfect. I loved both of them!

BCC did it again. This was a beautiful story about young love, first love. Where was Levi when I was in high school? What a beautiful, poignant coming of age story! Aria with her “Art” helping her heal, grow and make some hard decisions about her teenage pregnancy. Levi with his “Soul” always striving to be the best for everyone, trying to be there, be helpful and see the best in people. Aria and Levi, two teenagers facing life altering situations develop a friendship, support each other, and end up falling in love. How could you not fall in love with these characters? The quirky things about each character made them more lovable. Air guitar 😂 Aria’s love of abstract art and how it takes on a life of it’s own and because meaningful and critical to how she navigates her teen pregnancy, and ultimately makes life decisions. Levi’s love of music, the violin, oxymorons and words. These things calm him and give him peace. They provide meaning and help him handle things in his life.  Simon and his OCD. Abigail, her endless positivity, and the way she quotes Marcus Aurelius. I wanted to step into this world and be friends with them. This book made me sad at times, but in the end I felt joy…peace…and hope.
