All I could think when I finished this book was holy shit. This was nothing like I was expecting. It was so damn emotional and heartbreaking but oh-so-amazing. Plus bonus points for the damn plot twists.

This was my first experience with Adam Silvera. I had this one on my 5-star predictions list, but sadly, it did not meet my expectations. I never connected with it emotionally and honestly felt bored throughout reading it. The book and writing was fine, but I just didn't connect at all.

Okay, so I liked it but I didn't love it. Hear me out... It's a great book, it just wasn’t meant for me. This book tells the story about a guy named Griffin who suffers the tragic loss of his boyfriend and now has to deal with depression and PTSD. Life is hard for Griffin, but he soon finds some comfort in Jackson, Theo's (the deceased boyfriend’s) previous boyfriend. The book is told in two different "perspectives"; TODAY and HISTORY, which each ultimately represent the time the events are happening at. Today is clearly what happens with Griffin in the present and after Theo's death whilst History shows us Theo alive and how their relationship evolved (both Jackson and Griffin).

The story is clearly interesting, it's amazing and the story is truly catching but I think the problem (in my opinion) of this one, is its pace. It's too slow for what I expected, which is disappointing considering I read this because I absolutely loved Adam's most recent project: "What If It's Us", co-written with Becky Albertalli.
Good book overall, a 3 star book for me!
