My first review and its a house of night book. Here we go. At first when I got the book I was all like jumping up and down in my head because well it IS a HoN book isn't it?
Anyway, the book at first continued where Awakened left off with not only tens of hundreds of questions but thousands of tens of hundreds of questions. I admired the beginning but the undying suspense throughout seemed to be exactly what I've been getting used to since Idk, Untamed (the fourth book).
The story was amazing as always and the fact that some of the not as well known characters got to step up to the plate was just as wonderful. Its not everyday you read a book where a side character actually does something important. I also must say Destined seemed to be that book we HoN fans have been waiting on since the ending of Tempted. Zoey is back, semi focused, and on top of everything as it should be. Even though some of the Nerd Herd seemed majorly OOC I found it refreshing to see them burst out of their nonexistent sideline character shells. I loved the fact we weren't circling around say Stevie Rae and Aprhodite (even though I love her much <3) any more.
I have one word and honestly depending on who you are you may hate or love it: Aurox. The boy on the cover is hotter than fire in the Sahara Desert. There I said it may we proceed to fanboy/fangirl now? Aurox held my attention like no other person in the book. I was captivated by his lost little boy routine and unlike Kalona he meant it. In the beginning I was just panting over the cover. Now, I am panting over the adorable lost little boy who just happens to be sharing a soul with someone I didn't like alive and wished stayed dead (sorry Team Heath). Aurox was the nitty gritty of the book. He was all we could have asked for and more.
Shaunee. Yes. Shaunee. Who is this girl and why haven't met? I feel as if she also made the book bearable when Zoey just wasn't cutting it for me to keep going. Fire has never looked so beautifully sassy and not just because this girl has some hidden attitude. She's nice and sincere which is WAY more than I can say for oh say...an ex twin.
Kalona. Kalona...OH MY GOD KALONA!!! *insert fanboy squeal here* Kalona has always had a special place in my heart since Untamed and honestly if your imagination is as good as mine he should be yours too. My baby has finally seen the light and honestly in all my happiness for him. He was majorly overshadowed by Aurox.
Zoey. I love the fact that she is back and all but my first reaction to her coming back was like when did you get here? I thought you were lost forever. Anyway, Zoey being totally back is amazing like seriously. Her humor throughout the book and sarcasm on the most serious situations was a relief and very teenager like. My favorite example was the almost fight between Dallas and Rephaim. Her wondering what element would be effective against electricity was too hilarious for words. I read that and was like 'Idk Zoey, EARTH?!!'
Even though I was thoroughly impressed with the characters the plot had me going where are we going? How fast are we going? Will I be regretting reading this by next Tuesday? Unfortunately in the end it had me wondering why what was Destined really was Destined. I keep thinking Aprodites' vision will come true any minute BUT, it looks like it keeps getting prolonged to the next book. The humor was funny but it just couldn't cover up how serious the book "tried" to be when it counted and left me more than a little agitated.
There was just too much damage from previous books to expect it to be saved and righted in one book. I love HoN but seriously some major improvements were the new characters. The already introduced characters disappointed me I mean the lack of Damien was horribly devastating. Even though the right choices were chosen this time around I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened had the book been longer or even extended. We answered questions only to leave more questions and even more unanswered questions. I'm sorry but I am getting tired of waiting around for the end.
In spite of dragging it out and making me madder than any other book in existence outside of the series. But then again, its a HoN book which is why I am giving this a solid 4 out of 5.

Dear oh dear, where do I start with this book? It's book nine in the House of Night series. NINE!
I do like these books, the story is good, the writing it decent and the characters are fun. But I think the series should have been wrapped up in the 3rd book. It seems the authors are just trying to drag it on and on, like they don't want to give up. But seriously, what more can you write? If you haven't read all the books up to Destined, then maybe you shouldn't read my review, I dont want to spoil anything for you.
Here we go, first off, the fact that they are bringing Heath back into the mix is proof that they are running out of original ideas. I mean, he died, let him be dead and move on. And this "I used to be bad, and now I'm good" characteristic that half of the characters have, needs to be done. Neferet is back and still be head hancho of the House of Night, the nerd herd is living in the depot with Rephiam who is now human half the time, and lo and behold, Kalona is rethinking his badassness. *sigh*
I'm having a hard time writing this review, because it's a love / hate relationship. I want to be done with this series, but the darn cliffhangers that they have at the end of EACH (of the NINE books) is too much! I think they are the only thing that brings me back each time. I seriously curse myself while reading these books up until the last chapters, because I just can't stop. Good for you P.C. and Kristin for being able to get us hooked each and every time.
Zoey and her friends haven't changed much. They're still on each others case, Aprodite still the smart-ass, Stevie-Rae still the country girl and so on. Characters are being killed off and Zoey is trying to defeat Neferet, nothing new.
Honestly, I didn't find this book kept me interested as much as the previous others. But once again, I've been pulled in, and I am (not without reluctance) anticipating the book that will put this series up into the whooping double digits, Hidden, #10.

It is a good series though but it has too much guy-drama! xD besides that it's interesting

The story in this one was actually halfway decent.
Too bad they kept throwing slurs around every other word in the beginning and middle of the book.

hmmm what to say?? I was a huge fan of this series. I am always so excited when a new book comes out. But then as I am reading it I remember "oh yeah nothing really happens through out the books until the very end, and it is kinda boring". Well Guess what it happened again. It was a whole book of the "nerd heard" talking about the same things over and over again, being immature, and having sex. I just want them to grow up. And come on Neferet is still being bad and being high Priestess and they are still going to school. I don't understand. I feel like P.C Cast is trying to do too much at once and not developing the plot enough. The books used to be just from Zoey's POV but now every book seems to have a new POV. While I am reading it I am thinking "this is the last one I will read". But then right at the very end the action starts and it makes you go "what the??" and you have to read the next one. Agggghhh. I think the series needs to be wrapped up.
