After the events of the first book in 1925 France, back in 2465, Stassi and her friends are now part of the Syndicate’s first quad team, with Gaige, Molly, and Charles. To test their team’s capabilities, and Charle’s ability to blend into an unfamiliar environment, they are set up on a mission in their own time. This book seems more intended to establish them as a team, to show how things are in their current time, and develop their relationships a bit more. It definitely grounds the reader more in what they’re doing for the Syndicate, while giving an interesting look into a very futuristic society. There are some really interesting “historical” events outlined, adding even more to the overall engaging aspects of the story. We also continue to get more tidbits on the mysterious locket and pocket watch, and more questions about Stassi’s past. It was an enjoyable story, and a solid continuation of the series.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

This was a nice sequel to the Syndicate and while I liked it and there were some really fun scenes I just didn’t love it the way I did the first one. Mostly because I love the time travel aspect and as this one takes place in Stassi’s time there wasn’t any of that to enjoy. Sure the future where Stassi lives was interesting and imaginative BUT its a book about time travelling thieves so I want time travel! The other main gripe I had was none of the questions left hanging at the end of book one are addressed. We don’t find out why Charles was allowed to stay and there if very little in the way of progress in Stassi’s hunt for answers about her past.

I did enjoy the glimpses we got of Stassi’s life before she became a time travelling thief and I still love the friendship between Molly & Stassi. In terms of romance Charles is fine but I was too distracted by my annoyance of not knowing why he stayed/was allowed to stay – waiting for the other show to drop so to speak to really become invested in his character or their relationship.

Adult Nancy Drew is what this makes me think of it's so good. I can't wait to read more of this series I love the different 'stories' while this whole mystery thing is going on.

Wow that was a quite interesting book. I can't believe all the things that has happened in this one. To be honest not a if my theories came out to be true but some did, and I have some theories for the third book that actually are very likely to be true. 😆
Can we stop and talk about Stassi and Charles for a second. To be honest I'm really scraped that Charles is gonna came out to be Stassi's great great great great great (??) Grandfather.😁😂 That would be really interesting. Omg think about it ohh God. But beside that I like their relationship and I like how it is not so fictional, like it's not like they met, love at first sight, and now they're together. They both have different and complicated feeling about each other but I kind of hope at the end they end up together. 💕
But I also hope that Charles goes back to his time (unless the reason that Cyrus let him stay at time is - something so weird and complicated and also makes sense a lot - the reason that he can't actually go back to his time.🤔
Ok am I the only one who thinks Cyrus sounds hot 🤪😁 but of course he is old (well not that old but you know what I mean) but he just sounds so perfect and the way his relationship with Stassi and the team, as if he is their father or something, it's just great. 💕
I also totally ship Molly and Gaige. They sound great together.💕
I really can't wait to read the third books and get answers to my questions. 💕😇
