It's the first in a trilogy, a pretty good start to a series. But I kind of feel that this story doesn't exactly need to be a trilogy. I am currently reading it's sequel titled Focus, and so far I like it a little more than the first book. The main character, Allie, is really starting to grow on me where at first I kind of wanted to stuff her in a barrel. In the first book she kind of seemed like a Mary-Sue character. But in the second book she has a lot of realistic character development, and I really like her headstrong personality. And while I can already tell that this series wont be in my top 10 favorite, I still like it and look forward to the third book when it comes out.

I'm sorry, I just can't keep going. In my personal opinion, the main characters are girly cliches who drink copiously with strange men and there is clearly a Twilight sort of romance coming on. I'm not going to give this book a rating because I stopped so soon (28 pages), but those are my reasons for doing so. Just not for me!

Terrible characters, terrible situations, very clunky writing, generally just awful...

The beginning, for me, was a little slow to start up. The same old thing; girl is on vacation for summer, just wants to have fun, meets a guy who will change her mind. I was really intrigued and I wanted to read more. It took a few chapters for me to really be pulled into the story, and I was so glad I decided to give this a chance.

I loved how fresh and new the fantastical elements were. Who Levi and his friends were, I had no idea. I liked Allie enough, but I don't think she was my favorite character. Also, how Levi tricked her had me hating him a little (only a little, because I really liked him the farther I read). This book was definitely good, but not one that I'll read over and over again. I'm excited to read Focus (book two) and continue the story. Maybe the more I learn about the two main characters and the more I learn about this secret society will change my mind, and I'll come to love the story as much as any of my favorite reads.

Is this my new favorite hate-read? It might be, because I kinda hated this but also kinda want to keep reading???
