Enjoyable but needs broken up because silly movie review burnout is a real thing and the best line is about how art should be defended by kicking people in the head more often. I listened to the audiobook version which was read by the author who was heavily influenced by 2020.

Lindy West is absolutely hilarious. She roasts some of my favourite movies in this book and yet I was still crying from laughter.

I highly recommend the audiobook as she narrates and it makes the experience so much more hilarious.

Silly, funny, feminist roast of movies from the nineties-ish. One of my favorite parts was the premise that The Fugitive is the best movie, and so West rates every other movie on a scale of 1-10 dvds of The Fugitive. I laughed a lot.

It helped that she shares my disdain for The Notebook and American Pie.

Excellent collection of short humorous essays. Relistened to some of them just to laugh about the movie again while sharing with my partner.

I think Lindy and I could be friends. I too like to rip and lovingly mock things I adore.

What a relief, what a joy, to read Lindy West making jokes about movies here in the middle of hell. Thank you, Lindy.

I love Lindy West. I’ll always love Lindy West. I first discovered her in The Stranger, a Seattle publication that made my 20-something soul come alive with its weird, no-holds-barred attitude. I loved Shrill and The Witches are Coming. I liked Shit, Actually, but love would be too strong a word. Lindy’s writing style in this book is hilarious as ever, it just didn’t keep my attention like her previous two. I’m like that with essay compilations, though. I hope Lindy keeps writing because I’ll keep buying them forever. I’d recommend this book to my friends, so I’ll do the same for you, fellow Goodreaders.

Reading this book felt like the closest thing to going to a movie that we are going to get in a loooooong time. Highly recommend for a break from like...reality and shit.
