This was a vastly different book than the first installment. Reads more like a detective novel and is set outside Area X. I didn’t enjoy this book as much as Annihilation, but it does help to shed light on some of the mystery around Area X (without fully answering all the questions). The book was a bit slow to get going and I didn’t really connect with the POV character’s inner monologue (a lot of stream of consciousness). But the final 80-100 pages or so pick up the pace and the book ends on a pretty wild cliff hanger so I’m excited to start Acceptance!
