If I ever choose to read a romance novel, I usually go for the super heavy cheesy and sappy romance. But my friend gave me this book as a gift so I had to give it a chance.

I found that the writing really flowed however towards the end there were some parts that were a bit choppy and didn't go super nicely together.

At first, I didn't think that I was going to really enjoy this book but as I kept reading I started liking it more and more. At Chapter 22, I had to take a break and stop reading because I just knew what was going to happen. I read the last bit of the book with a heavy heart. I like to rate books based on their ability to make me feel things, and this book made me feel a lot.

I thought that I knew what direction the book was going but I was wrong. The ending had a turn, but then it did become predictable again. I still enjoyed it though, I thought it was super heartfelt.

Nicholas Sparks is one of those authors I don't seek out but always enjoy when I read him.  I raced through this book, reading 90% of it in one sitting then I HAD to get some sleep.

A bit of a twist on the "what could have been", second chance love story, and a few surprises along the way.

Likeable characters who both seem to struggle with where they find themselves, more than 20 years after their family situations tore their relationship apart.

Without giving something away, the ending felt right. Minor paranormal/psychic mentions which would normally put me off right away but they are easily ignored and fit with the ultimate narrative of Tuck's storyline too
