A good story to read and learn about how to care for and treat other animals(mostly horses). The only thing I didn't like about this book was that it was kinda boring without some sort of audiobook to help keep me engaged. But other than that, it was a very quick read.

It's really unbelievable that this book was written in the 1800's given how relevant and comprehensive it is. Biting social commentary applicable to both animals and humans that still stands today; a fantastic punch of a book in a small package.
It would have been an easy 5 stars, if not for the main antagonist being so obviously Jewish coded. You'd think that for an author that was so well versed in compassion, she would have caught her own biases. It's really a terrible shame for an otherwise fantastic read.

I read Black Beauty in elementary school and loved it. I had always loved horses so it was the perfect book for me at the time. I loved the adventure in the book and I highly recommend reading it.

A lovely story, for older children or adults. I really enjoyed it.
