I can't particularly say that I enjoyed this, but I do find myself glad that I read it.

It reads as if C.S. Lewis attempted to write a mashup of Lewis Carroll and Charles Dickens: part whimsical adventure, part working-class Victorian life, all Christian allegory.

‘Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.' - C.S. Lewis

A children’s book that trusts a child to understand the deep nuances of joy and death and community (and can, in turn, reward an adult reader with layers of meaning not always meant for the child) is a book worth my time. A young reader ingests more than we know!

I will always love this book. It takes me to places no other book ever has - and it makes me excited for the day I can dance with the North Wind and see what is at her Back.

This remains one of my favorite stories of all time.

A bitter-sweet story... But not in the classic way... It's a story of tasting the bitter and finding it sweet after all...

Objectively this book gets a 2, personally a .5 because it was painful getting through this. Had to jump to am audiobook at 2x speed to push through and finish 60% of the book. Not my fav.

i really struggled to get into this at the beginning; by the end i felt like i'd been punched in the gut. almost every page of this novel is steeped in death, but it's oddly comforting. reading this felt like a religious experience. in the most human sense :-)
