This was my second read by Nicky Charles, and have to say my first one, Mated, was much better. This story seemed to drag on and on, with a lot of unnecessary writing. The characters over analyzed EVERYTHING! That being said, i did finish it, and it was overall a good story.

First, I can't believe I got this book for free!?! Next, I like the quick background at the start on the werewolves and the Purist.

This book is very well thought out with a great plot line, that keeps you wanting more. I like that the characters where not perfect and they had depth. Everytime I thought I could guess what was going to happen next (like a harlequin novel) the book took a different twist and I couldn't put it down! I intended to read this during the week at work, but I finished it during the weekend! Now I need to go back and read the other books!

I really liked this peek into a different group of werewolves. I thought it was interesting that Reno was this crazy rogue wolf, but he never seemed all that dangerous. I know part of that is because we were viewing him through Brandi's eyes, but it was still interesting to watch the other character's reactions too him. Also, I really enjoyed Brandi because she wasn't just a typical submissive she-wolf like we saw in The Mating. I really enjoyed how she and Reno interacted. I really liked the scene at the end, probably because it was the only time I ever felt like Reno was dangerous. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and definitely look forward to more from this author.

Oh, Reno *fans self* There was just something about him that made me want to jump in the book and take over Brandi's life. I wanted to be her!

Any way, I found this book different than the first one because it gives you a look into how Lycans run their kind. Reno is an alpha wolf but since he does not have a pack, he joins the Lycan Link and becomes an Enforcer. I see Lycan Link as an secretive office/campus where wolves who leave their pack join and learn about how they can take part in the Lycan world by becoming an Enforcer or a DC officer, etc. Reno's job as an Enforcer is to settle situations that are arising in packs and if needed, to fight to get the situation under control. This pairs him up with Brandi every once in a while because if the situation wasn't handled properly, Brandi's job is to come in and cover up what happened for the human community that they pack is located by.

Now that you know that background, Reno and Brandi hit it off in the first part of the book but then try to create mountains between each other, for various reasons, but their job keeps bringing them together. Both are great at their jobs so it comes as a shock when Brandi transfers departments within the Lycan Link and take a vacation to go home. Once home, Brandi realizes that her pack's new alpha is a Purist and calls Reno in for some help. Again, this throws them together and they fight the whole time all while craving each other as a mate.

Bonded was a fantastic prequel; read it.

Romantic suspense that some might call soap opera material. I like it anyway!
