Absolutely loved this first of two. The world building, character development, and plot set up were great. Fable is young, and I always appreciate when a character acts their age/isn't a total wussy or bad a**. If you're looking for an engrossing story with beautifully written characters, worlds, and an engaging plot with cliffhanger, please read this!

I honestly wasn’t quite sure I’d like the vibes of this book but I ended up LOVING it. This felt like such an easy read for me, and I haven’t had that in a long time

I could feel the rush of the cold water on my skin, and I could smell the salt in the air.
This was not just a book, this was a whole and complete immersive experience. The writing is extremely beautifully done and very easy to read.
I was able to sail the Narrows and dredge for pyres on Jeval.
I stargazed on the deck of the Marigold and took riches from the Lark.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves the sea, diving, and sailing, or even just enjoys adventure in a plot with some type of pirates.
I could not put this book down and directly picked up its sequel when it was over. That could be because the book ends on a cliff hanger.
Series rating: 5

For years I’ve judged this book bc it has a face on the cover. But how dare I. This book is a five star instant favorite. A strong main character who drives the story forward, instead of just reacting as things happen to her. A found family who kind of remind me of the Six of Crows crew. Simply so good. Also pirates of the Caribbean vibes a bit!!! Alsooo I loved that this didn’t buy into the women are bad luck on ships trope. The skill of diving was cool and unique!
