This was fine. I didn't feel like the stakes were super high, so I didn't feel any sense of urgency while reading it. Maybe pirate books are just not my thing?

This is an engaging story with a nice balance of adventure and depth. It’s a little slow to start, but it picked up for me about 20-25% in. Then, it was flying and the ending does feel somewhat rushed. Because of that, I wonder if it could have been more evenly paced.
The characters are particularly fun to follow, and I didn’t side eye Fable nearly as much as I thought I might. I’m already looking forward to the next book and grateful I don’t have to wait too long for it.
