Age Appropriateness:
  • This poetry book is definitely best for K-2nd grade. The lessons / stories are simple and easy for those ages to understand.

Summary:
  • Bob’s Bicycle Helmet was the poem I focused on in the book. It was a really cute book about being safe and wearing a helmet because they protect people. I really liked the personification of the helmet explaining what it helps Bob stay safe from. I think a lot of times kids are told by adults all the rules they have to follow and never why they need to follow them. This is a funny way for students to hear why helmets are important and also learn about personification.

Review:
  • It’s a great book for a simple introduction to poetry for young students, and also a great book for more unique literary devices for older students. I think a fun assignment to do with the Bob’s Bicycle Helmet poem would be to write dialogue. This would be for older students, but it’s a great way to see personification and apply it themself!

Fun personified animals poems, some better than others.

Cute and nice little poems. The clothing perspective was interesting.

Sweatshirts, and sweaters and hand-me down clothes all find a voice in this book of poems. How fun!
