This book was ridiculously silly- but that was the point. I flew through the Audiobook! As ridiculous as it was.. I'm still planning to listen to the it's companion novel in the future.

This book was such a clever, hilarious, and magical take on history (if you can call it that considering that it did deviate from history...a lot). The characters were so lovable and the writing was excellent! I really enjoyed this book and I'd definitely recommend it!

If I had read the paper version it may have only received 3🌟 from me. However the audiobook narration was brilliantly done and made me enjoy this book much more. The voices, various accents and wit lead to such a deeper enjoyment of this story. I would describe it as a delightful, somewhat historically based, romp of a young adult romance. It Tells the story of the cousin of King Edward and his cousin Lady Jane alongside a cast of true characters. Good for a laugh as you’re stuck in traffic!

I mostly listened to the audiobook narrated by Katherine Kellgren, who did a fantastic job. It sounded like she was having fun reading it, and made me laugh out loud many times.

This was a fun book.

Absolutely loved this book and loved how it turned out! I’ve never really read a historical fantasy before but it had the right amount of history and fantasy to create this enlightening and fantastic story. This is a great book for historians and animal lovers. 5/5🔥

Very cute and entertaining! Fun to read and I think anyone who's not a classics snob will enjoy it.

I loved this book. Edward, Jane and G were interesting, fun characters. I loved their character growth, particularly Edward and Jane's. I enjoyed watching the younger characters triumph in this novel. The various asides from the authors were so wonderfully irreverent. I loved the Shakespeare insertions. I would love to read follow up stories on Bess and Mary Queen of Scots. After this, the actual history seems woefully inadequate.

this was just…okay
- i really didn’t like Jane and Edward. all the other characters were normal for side characters but it’s hard to read when you don’t like the main ones.
- the plot was super simple and the writing was also ezpz, for babies tbh. like, as a retelling, i would expect the story to be loosely inspired but the whole thing was literally the historical event!! what was the point ???
- the writing style was annoying to me. i didn’t really like the authors randomly ruining the moment to tell me random facts. they would also straight up tell you something bad might happen. why are they spoiling their own story???
- i know a lot of people have said it’s really character driven. true, the plot was short and simple. nothing really happened, which is fine if the characters were tolerable. unfortunately, they were not.
- also, idk if this counts as a spoiler since the authors put warnings randomly throughout the book, but nothing happens!! they keep saying ‘don’t read past this point if you don’t wanna read about people dying!’ LITERALLY NO ONE IMPORTANT DIED.
- also, the ‘comedy’ is like regular witty humour people do every day without thinking. idk how people label it as funny when it was just regular…
