This was my first Davenport novel. I realized quickly that I jumped into a sequel. However, I didn't seem to miss out by not having read the previous book(s). At first the novel was just too graphic for me, kind of gross. But, the mystery grew on me. The characters were not all too inventive, but that didn't take away too much of the story. I like how Davenport figures out what is going on, and how the reader is kept in the dark, until Davenport starts connecting the dots.

Quite the twisted plot line and end result. I never would have guessed it correctly, which, I guess is one reason I like this series.

I'm listening to this series and I'm picking them up out of order. Wish I'd started from the beginning, but I'm still digging them. Sandford keeps everything moving at a brisk pace which is how I like my novels. There's always a twist or two which I also like. Richard Ferrone is the narrator and does an above average job.
