I have been waiting for this book! Jaxson and Lucy were dynamite. Jaxson was a wonderful character. I loved reading about his journey to becoming a better person and father. Lucy was a bit harder to like but she grew on me. I am hoping that Nolan gets a book next!

Ms. Lorelei James rocked my reading world hard with I Want You Back. In a world created within written pages, Ms. James takes a fantasy like situation, enriches it with real life trials, temptations and events giving this reader her first 5 star read of the year.

Jaxson Ludd had everything any man could want. The beautiful woman at his side, the angel of a daughter, a family that loves and supports him and a career that he loves. Jaxson tossed a good bit of that out the window when his fame and excess became more important than his real life. Jaxson hit rock bottom, paid a price, got help with his addiction and is back. Ready to make amends, right some wrongs and be the man he should have been before.

Lucy Quade’s life has been shaken up once again. Basically easing her daughter as a single parent. Now with the ex back, and to stay, he’s found a way to insert himself into her everyday life. While happy that her daughter has her father in her life on a more regular basis, the emotional turmoil, both good and bad, that man creates within her, makes Lucy crazy. He all but broke her, yet he creates so much for and within her, she can hardly see straight.

There are so many things I loved about I Want You Back. Two people who came together to learn to be good parents for their child. Jaxson and Lucy are an amazing couple who worked painstaking hard to get themselves where they wanted to be. The baggage these two carry would cost a good portion of Jax’s fortune to fly. The characters are complex with layers that have layers. They grow personality and together throughout the story. I loved Jaxson stepping up to be a real father, not just the fun dad who gives and gives. While Jax royalty messed things up, Lucy was not without fault and she owned up to it. The way Ms. James places the flashbacks of the story are seamless and comes off like a daydream. While giving wonderful insight to the characters and story. I adore the solid family bonds and connections. Which if you have read Ms. James you will know is one of the pieces of the foundation of her stories.

I Want You Back is an emotional, eye opening and thought provoking read. Jaxson and Lucy will break your heart, put it back together all while dancing a slow dance of attraction and chemistry, remembering the past while trying to have a future. Ms. James gave me everything I needed, wanted and more.

Disclaimer- I’m not a sports fan in any, way, shape or form. Actually hate sports is a description for what I feel about sports. Hockey plays a huge part of I Want You Back and yet not enough to outright over power the story. There was a particular blow off some steam skating session that turned into a very humorous scene that I very much enjoyed.

4.25 stars. Loved the story even if the first person thing still makes me nuts. So much trauma and heartbreak to work through but I'm glad these two found their way to a true HEA and they'll get their happy family in the future I know. Dying to find out which Lund finds love next!

This is my first time reading a book by Lorelei James and while I enjoy her writing, I just don’t think I can get past Jax and Lucy’s history enough to enjoy this book.

Although we learn all about their issues in this book, I kind of feel like none of those issues were discussed to a point where I felt closer or redemption for the things that happened between them. I’m reading that Jax made appearances in a previous series and since I haven’t read her before, maybe that’s why I feel like I’m missing something?

Anyways, because I feel like the writing was good and I hear so many good things about Lorelei James, I will chalk this one up to just not being the right fit for me. However, I will definitely read something else from her.

I found this book while searching for books to complete my fifty state challenge, I had no idea what to expect going into it as I have never read anything from this author before. This book is the fist book in a spin off series, and there is a lot of talk of previous couples and I feel like a lot of times, I felt like I was missing something. I really liked some of the heavy topics in this book (cheating, alcoholism, STI's and co-parenting (only heavy cause they were toxic in the beginning of their co-parenting relationship IMO)), I liked the flashbacks and the second chance troupe. As far as premise I did enjoy it, and obviously I was cheering on the MC's to get it together, but I feel like the couple still had so much work to do as far as their relationship and parenting (their daughter was such a spoiled brat and they allowed it IMO). I liked the MC enough, but Jaxson's possessiveness was a no for me and Lucy's controlling drove me nuts. This book was steamy so it checked that box for me, but I think that parts that should have been sweet or swoony just came off as "I'm a millionaire and can do whatever I want" and it just didn't work for me. Especially when the gestures (possible spoiler........like buying the building your baby momma lives in) are as extravagant as they are. Since this is a second chance romance I wasn't bothered by the time in which the MC's declared love, but I do feel like the MC's had so much to work on I would have loved to see this as a HFN rather than a tied up in a nice bow traditional HEA. I wish I could say that I loved the side characters, but I can't. I liked maybe two or three. I may pick up the second book in the series eventually just to see how it all ends with Jaxson's brother and Gabi.

I was enticed to pick this one up by an FB recommendation. I'm so glad I did! I loved this second-chance romance. Jax and Lucy had so many issues to work through, but at the core of their relationship you could tell they really were meant to be together.

I should've heeded the negative reviews. This book wasn't terrible, but just ok. I thought the premise had promise but it fell flat for me.

*I received a free copy of I Want You Back from Tantor Media. This has in no way influenced my review which is honest and unbiased.*

I really enjoyed all the interactions between Lucy and Jax... and their daughter, and the other characters. It was such a sweet second-chance romance, where Jax really, really had his work cut out for him!

The narrators did a fantastic job, and made both the story and the characters come to life for me.

I Want You Back by Lorelei James is an endearing second chance at love romance. This newest release is the first installment in the Want You series (which is a spinoff of the Need You series).

Now retired from the NHL , Jaxson "Jax" Lund has moved back home and he is trying to make amends for his past mistakes.  Now sober, he is determined to make up for lost time with his eight year old daughter, Mimi. Jax also wants to atone for the mess he made of his relationship with Mimi's mother, Lucy Quade. His drinking and womanizing lead to the end of their romance and years of Jax taking her to court over custody battles and child support payments. He knows he is responsible for the demise of their relationship but Jax is hoping it is not too late to convince Lucy to forgive him and give him a second chance.

Lucy is independent, feisty and speaks her mind.  While she is willing to let bygones be bygones, she is hesitant to completely trust Jax. His past actions hurt both her and Mimi but in the present, he has done nothing to cause her to worry he is reverting to past behavior.  Lucy is still attracted to Jax but she does not if she can believe the changes in him are permanent. She is disappointed that he has been keeping secrets but will this prevent her from giving Jax a fair chance to prove he has genuinely changed?

Jax made huge mistakes during his hockey career. He made massive errors in judgment that ended his relationship with Lucy and will have lifelong repercussions.  Jax has learned from his mistakes and his determination to prove himself is believable and quite touching. Lucy also has some emotional baggage from her childhood that she must make peace with before she can make a decision about her future with Jax.  Will Lucy and Jax be able overcome their fraught past?

I Want You Back is a marvelous romance that realistically depicts addiction and the consequences of Jax's decisions. Lucy and Jax are well-rounded characters that are flawed but immensely appealing. Lorelei James's first installment in the Want You series is a beautifully written story of forgiveness and redemption that is heartwarming and uplifting. Readers will be impatiently awaiting the next release in this wonderful series.

Given the subject matter, I had expected more angst but the time span between past events and present, referring to them but giving no details or flash backs served to water it all down. In addition the pacing of this felt rushed, they went from distant to touchy feely in a blink of an eye. The large clan served as fillers and seeders, so yawn.
